Men’s ties and women’s high heel shoes

Once I spoke loudly to a female colleague, "Men wear ties and women wear high heel shoes. Both are stupid enough to unnecessarily restrict their own movement. And we call this civilization."

I tried to elaborate further, putting on ties in the summer heat and sweating a lot is a torture to men. Likewise, women wearing high heel shoes can go nowhere and would risk injuring their knees. High heels are a trick men play on women while ties are a trick men fool themselves, I concluded.

Then I found my boss was standing behind me, wearing a tie. My colleague hurriedly refined my wordings, "Only those men who wear ties in summer are stupid. In winter it’s OK." Anyway, the boss is a kind person and has been used to my talking like this.
